Public Information, Marketing & Events Director GENERAL SUMMARY Under regular supervision, assists the Head of School to create and sustain positive relationships between the school and its constituents, both internal and external, leading them to support East Point Academy as donors, volunteers, and advocates in fulfillment of our mission.
This is a 232-day position.
Reports to the Head of School.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Oversee five major areas of school advancement:
social media, parent and community communications, volunteer management, special events/fundraising and marketing.
Effectively and smoothly integrate these functions with each other and with all other school activities.
Work with the Head of School and the Board of Directors to determine the funding required to meet current and future institutional needs, providing direct support to the Head of School and the Board of Directors in all fundraising initiatives Direct, plan and execute all fundraising programs and events to support school operations and growth.
Oversee a database management system to ensure timely and accurate documentation and report of philanthropic gifts, acknowledgement letters, volunteer/donor list and the like.
Design processes and procedures to allow easy access to and retrieval of constituent data by other staff and administrators.
Cultivate and steward current donors and prospects, creating a climate of future generous giving to East Point Academy Manage parent communication platform (ParentSquare) with posts, alerts, and weekly newsletters.
Manage and update websites.
Build a program of ongoing cultivation of foundations, businesses/corporations and other local organizations, increasing awareness of East Point Academy and its programs, and create a philanthropic climate for additional support of the school Organize and inspire a strong sense of community and pride in the school on the part of parents, alumni/ae faculty, staff and other constituent groups through donor recognition events and special celebrations such as but not limited to Volunteer Recognition Annual Students and Staff Awards Ceremonies, End of Year Family Outing, Wall of Fame, Chinese New Year Gala, etc.
These events may be hosted in conjunction with the PPA (Panda Parent Association) or other school groups.
Manage East Point Academy's marketing and public relations programs in Columbia and surrounding areas as well as meeting the needs of various internal constituencies and informing them effectively about school initiatives including scheduling and organizing events.
Produce communication tools on a regular basis such as weekly school e-newsletter, brochures and flyers promoting school and community events, video or other media productions promoting the school and initiatives, etc.
Provide news releases on a regular basis to promote the school to the district office information officer and to local media with approval of the Head of School Maintain a school authorized website that is user friendly and promotes the mission and advancement of East Point Academy Provide support to the Board of Directors for FOIA compliant communications of agendas, approved minutes, monthly budget report, etc.
via the school approved communication tools Collaborate with administrative support staff for maintaining and updating accurate and user friendly electronic communication systems Collaborate with administration and Board Secretary on PANDA Professional(s) each month and prepare for presentation.
Participate in committee activities and collaborate with others on system development, integration, and implementation of interfaces with other training and technology related systems.
GENERAL JOB FUNCTIONS Punctual and maintains regular attendance Ability to plan, organize and prioritize daily assignments and work activities Maintains a clean and orderly work environment Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies Recognizes and follows the appropriate procedures in the chain of command as designated by board policies and/or administrative procedures Operates a variety of equipment such as a computer, printer, typewriter, two-way radio, telephone, calculator, etc Presents a positive image of East Point Academy at all times Willingly performs other related duties as assigned JOB SPECIFICATIONS Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in business, journalism, marketing, or related fields Two to three years of successful non-profit/development experience Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines Ability to work collaboratively and independently Must possess exceptionally strong writing, speaking and interpersonal skills Computer skills are essential.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Knowledge Knowledge of the methods, policies, procedures and activities of East Point Academy which pertain to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position Knowledge in the development, planning, organization, implementation and management of instructional programs and practices designed to meet educational objectives and requirements Knowledge of the records, forms and reports which must be prepared and maintained Skills/Effort Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines Must possess exceptionally strong writing, speaking and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively and independently Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with school and district staff Ability to complete, process, and maintain required records, reports, and other information Ability to develop and maintain effective communications with school and district employees, the Head of School, and the general public Must be able to speak with poise, voice control and confidence and to articulate information to others using the mechanics of standard English Maintains an enthusiastic, self-reliant and self-starting approach to meeting job functions Strives to anticipate work to be accomplished and initiates proper and acceptable actions for the completion of work with a minimum of supervision and instruction Working Conditions Conducts duties in a school environment with some exposure to environmental conditions Requires ability to work under a degree of stress related to duties that require constant attention and working with students Physical demands include walking or standing and lifting/moving of items related to the job on a recurring basis Occasional local travel is required; occasional overnight travel is required Job requires the operation of standard office equipment Responsibility Responsible for completing assigned work within the deadlines in accordance with directives, policy, standards and prescribed procedures Responsible for attending and remaining at work regularly and adheres to policies and procedures regarding attendance, absenteeism and tardiness, providing adequate notice to administration with respect to vacation time and leave requests DISCLAIMER STATEMENT This job description is not intended as an employment agreement or contract.
